I can´t believe it has been almost a week since I last posted. We have done so much since then. Time for a picture summary.
We took the train from Sevilla to Granada, and climbed up to the Alhambra. It was a steep walk up:
The views were breathtaking.
The next day we rented a car and went on a little road trip. We made a stop in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains for some hiking.
We drove through crazy mountains, sometimes without a railing. It was really scary at times!
We ended up in the small beach town of Cabo de Gata. I think this was the one “mistake” in our itinerary. The town was pretty desolate and we ended up spending most of our time in a neighboring town. Still, we got to lay on a deserted beach on the Mediterranean.
And we rented bikes and rode all around town.
On Saturday we drove from the beach to Valencia. We had some trouble finding the rental car drop off and then it started raining. I started to get a little homesick to be honest. We ended up having a crappy dinner which just added to it.
Today, however, I´m feeling 100% better. The sun is shining and we are having a great day. We started our day with delicious Valencia orange juice. Neil is reading from the book right now that “Valencia is the capital of La Huerta, a fertile coastal agricultural plain that supplies the city with delightfully fresh fruits and vegetables.” So good!
And Neil led us on a walking tour of the city from our Lonley Planet book.
Then we found an amazing vegetarian restaurant for lunch that added to my newfound happiness. It has been hard to eat healthy on this trip and I was thankful for a salad.
The problem I am having with the food here is one, everything seems to be served with or on white bread. I´m so sick of white bread! Two we often don´t know what we are ordering so we stick to things we recognize. In Barcelona (where we are heading tomorrow for 4 days) it should be easier because there will be more options and we have a detailed guide book just for this city.
Right now we are sitting in a laundromat that also has an internet cafe. Genius! Once we finish up here we´re going back to the hotel, then maybe renting bikes again.
Hopefully in Barcelona we will have more regular internet access and I can post more. Have a great week!
