Winter in Spring

That was the headline of the weather report this week. Unfortunately Spain has been having a cold front. It rained all day Monday when we were heading from Valencia to Barcelona. Monday night after we arrived we went out for the best tapas we have had yet! It helped a lot to have English menus plus having all the food out in front to see.

Then it rained all day Tuesday. We went to the City History Museum which had amazing ancient Roman ruins throughout. We tried to go to the Picasso museum but the line was extremely long and our feet were soaked, so we decided to take a much needed break from sightseeing and saw Iron Man 2.

We also went out for another amazing meal last night (thanks Time Out Barcelona – I definitely recommend these travel books!) and then headed to a Jazz club. It was a great vibe at the club and 2 of the 4 bands were really good. It was actually more like a blues club but still really fun.

This morning the sun decided to come out finally! We did not bring the right clothing and shoes for rain and cold weather, so I was very happy. We started out by visiting the Sagrada Familia, which is a crazy cathedral designed by Gaudi (modernista architecture).

Then we went to the Gaudi park and had a little picnic. It was nice to be outside again.

After a short nap we did some souveneir shopping and passed through this sweet market.

Tonight we are heading to dinner and then to a club tonight to experience more Barcelona nightlife. I can´t believe tomorrow is our last full day in a city. Friday afternoon we take the train to Madrid, then our flight is bright and early Saturday morning. I have mixed emotions about the trip ending. It has been the best vacation ever, but also long enough that I´m ready to get back to normal life.

I miss my bike and cooking and my dog and my house. But once I´m home for a few weeks I´m sure I will be dreaming of being on vacation.
