I don’t have that many pictures on my own camera. Hopefully the photographer will send us her CD of pics soon, plus I can steal some of my friends’ pics on facebook.
Friday morning started with finishing up the house clean-up and yard work. Then it was off to get manicures and pedicures with my mom and best friend Lauren.

After that, Lauren and I headed back to my house to get some last minute things ready for the BBQ party. I had about 20 friends come over for beer, food and general merriment.

It was great to spend quality time with the out-of-towners. My friend Colleen came in all the way from Portugal. Everyone left by midnight, so we could get a good night’s sleep.
Saturday morning I was up early, excited about the day ahead. Lauren came back over and we went to the farmer’s market with my friend from college Amanda, who stayed with us Friday night.

We cooked a delicious brunch. A frittata (mostly egg whites, some eggs) with chicken sausage, tomato, basil and mozarella plus fresh challah bread.

Afterwards we relaxed until the hair and makeup people came over to do me and my mom. I highly recommend doing this. It saved so much time and energy not having to rush around town to a salon.

At about 3 pm, we got a call from the art gallery saying there was a power outage! It wasn’t even raining out, but I guess there was some freak manhole fire. I wasn’t freaking out actually. They were getting a generator, and I was keeping my fingers crossed. It was super hot out on Saturday so the heat was my main concern.
On the way down to the gallery (after taking family pictures at my house), I got the call that the power was back on, about an hour before the party was to start. My only real complaint about the night is that it was really hot, even though the AC was back on.
Otherwise I had an amazing time seeing my friends and family, dancing my ass off, and partaking in some adult beverages. I hardly ate any of the food but it got rave reviews. Plus people said they loved the venue and looking at all the art on the walls.
The party was from 7-11:30ish, but a big group of the young people decided to continue to party at the Vegas Lounge in Logan Circle. They had a live band playing R&B and rock covers. They even dedicated and played a song for us! We stayed until the bar closed, around 3 am. It was so much fun. This is the only picture I have of me and Neil from the whole night.

As you can imagine, I was hurting when it was time to do brunch on Sunday. Our good family friends have a beautiful house up the street from my parents’ house. It’s an old Victoria-era house and they offered to host the brunch. I was very grateful. I was also grateful for bagels as a remedy for my hungover stomach. I got home at 4 pm, so happy with the weekend, but ready to crash. Neil and I ordered a pizza and then fell asleep for most of the night.
I can’t believe it’s over, but it was really one of the best weekends I’ve ever had. I felt so blessed to be surrounded with my family and friends who I love so much.
I will post more pictures once I get them. In the meantime, family photo! ![]()
