Welcome to Miami

Our trip to Miami has been a great combination of relaxation and activity.

Day 1 (Friday) was all about relaxation. There was a lot of this.

And some of this.

We did hit the gym in the morning for a little lifting session, but otherwise we did a lot of eating and resting. We did walk to our restaurant at least (2.5 miles) for dinner.

I’m happy to report that pumpkin is here in Miami too. We went to an Argentinian restaurant last night and I had the most amazing salad with pumpkin. I’m going to have to recreate when I get home.

Day 2 (today, Saturday) has been the polar opposite. I woke up around 8 and left the hotel at 9 am for an 8 mile run. It was HOT. I ran down the gorgeous boardwalk.

At the turnaround point I ran up a busy road instead, to get some shade from the buildings. I don’t know how you Floridians run in this during the summer. I guess the trade-off is that it is completely flat.

Post-run was brunch. Egg white omelet with roasted red peppers and spinach = heaven.

Plus we got cafe con leche, a favorite of ours from Spain. Miami definitely has a European vibe to it.

After brunch we walked about a mile or so to a bike rental place. We rented bikes and rode for over an hour, and covered about 12 miles. Renting bikes is such a great way to see a city. It was the highlight of the trip for me so far.

Tonight’s agenda: dinner and hopefully dancing. Are you an active vacationer or do you try to relax as much as possible? As you can probably guess, I need a combination of both to be happy.
