After my first marathon, I fell in love with running on these trails. As time has gone on, we’ve discovered new trails. We found these trails by simply exploring on weekends. I started this series in order to help newbie trail runners or hikers find trails more easily.
Because I’m no longer in DC, I obviously won’t be able to keep adding new trails (except for when I come back for visits!). If you are a RCP trail enthusiast, I would love for you to contribute to the series. I’ll be happily accepting guest posts from readers and bloggers alike.
Trail name: This is a name that Neil and I have given the trail. Most of these trails are a small part of the Valley Trail or West Ridge Trail. Those are the only trail names I found on Rock Creek Park’s website, so Neil and I came up with stupid names in order to have a conversation about where we are going.
Highlights of this trail: why we like the trail.
Cons of this trail: why we don’t like the trail.
Entrance location: Information on where to park and how to get onto the trail.
Distance: total mileage of route accompanied by a route map.
Technical Rating: A description of how rocky or “tricky” the trail is.
Dog Suitability: Note – you’re required to keep your dog on-leash, so go off-leash at your own risk. Here we note if there are horses on the trail or if you get close to/cross a road.
Description: details and directions.
