Welcome to my blog

I'm a 20-something running my way through Denver.

Fitness with Friends

It probably isn’t much of a shock that there are lots of active people in Colorado.  The weather and mountains simply draw these kinds of people.  This weekend was a good example of how active friends got my butt moving.

I’ve been reading Lauren’s blog for a while since she is a DC-area blogger.  So [...]

Sushi & Skiing

This weekend was a great one.  I met a bunch of Colorado bloggers on Friday night:

From left to right: Heather, Courtney, Lynne, Tiffany, Lauren, me and Heidi.  Picture stolen from Tiffany.

We went for sushi happy hour and then to see The Vow.  Now you know I must have wanted to meet [...]

VA Blue & Gray Half Marathon Race Recap

As I mentioned in my previous posts, I’ve been very busy the last few weeks.  The result: two long (10 mile) runs and no other runs since Thanksgiving in preparation for this half marathon.

On top of all the other things going on right now, my grandpa passed away last weekend.  He was 92, [...]

Riding Around Town

I hope everyone had a wonderful three-day weekend.  I’m a little sad to go back to real life tomorrow morning, but at least it will only be a four day work week.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting Stephanie while she was in DC visiting family.  She is training for the Marine Corps [...]

Five Things Friday

As you all know, long weekends are pretty much the best thing on earth.  My office is also closing at 3 pm today so the weekend will start early.  Here are five things I’m looking forward to this weekend:

NOT traveling!  As much as I love seeing family and friends, I am a homebody at [...]

Rock Hall Triathlon: Race Recap

My first Olympic triathlon is complete, and I did better than I expected!  I hit all the goals I set for myself.  I was secretly hoping to break 3 hours and succeeded.

To be perfectly honest, triathlons scare me.  When I arrived I saw tons of “serious” athletes with their tri bikes and fancy [...]

Just the Highlights

I’ve had a busy few days, but they’ve been filled with mostly good things.  First up, a blogger meet-up at a Nationals game.  Thanks to Amanda for organizing (and for getting us covered seats, which were clutch when it rained).  It was fun to catch up with old friends and make new ones.  (And thank [...]

Good News, Bad News

Good news – I had my longest run since the half marathon on Saturday morning.  7 miles in the bag!

Bad news – It’s officially summer weather here in DC.  It was very hot on the run and I’ll have to start waking up early to do these soon.  I also am now rocking [...]

Capitol Hill Classic 10K + A Reverse Triathlon

I don’t have the Sunday night blues because I’m too exhausted to worry about the weekend ending.   This morning I was up at around 5:30 to head to the Capitol Hill Classic 10K.  I met up with Chase & Victoria beforehand and I was pleasantly surprised with a not-crowded start line.

The course started [...]

Calm Before the Storm

OK that title may be a little dramatic.  Starting tomorrow I’m going to be out of town for 12 out of the next 13 days (four different trips/locations).  I love traveling to cool places for work and to see friends and family, but I get overwhelmed being away that long.

I’m going to Chicago [...]
