I’ve been avoiding even muttering the i-word in the last few months. In fact I’m not sure if I have even mentioned my injury on the blog since my doctor declared I was healed.
For new readers, I was diagnosed with a tibial stress fracture during my training for the National Marathon this past [...]
Soon after my stress fracture, I signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon. I had been devastated that I couldn’t run my marathon. Signing up for the Marine Corps Marathon was a way for me to make myself feel better – that it was OK because I would run a marathon in the fall.
However, [...]
I just got back from the doctor with the big news: My stress fracture is healed and I can begin running again!
I plan on starting very slowly. I am thinking of doing a short (as in 1 mile short) run at lunch today. I also have a swim planned for after work because I [...]
I got bike clip-in shoes over a month ago, and have been pressuring my dad to show me how to use them since then. He has been discouraging me because he was worried I would hurt myself (I wonder why ) but finally today I convinced him to take me out. We hit the road [...]
I have a guest post up over at Eater Not a Runner today – it’s about coping with an injury. Click here to check it out!
It’s a little ironic that I wrote that post about my stress fracture and now I’m dealing with the bike-crash injuries, but I keep thinking it could be worse. [...]
I didn’t realize that taking a few days off from tri-training would mean much more free time on my hands. With marathon training, I ran in the morning and would be done with my workout for the day. But with tri-training I generally have two (albeit smaller) workouts each day. Last night at around 6:30, [...]
Obviously I’m not happy about the spill this morning, but I won’t lie and say I didn’t enjoy a day working at home. I had my laptop in my bed with me, with trashy TV on for background noise and the pup sleeping all day at my feet.
I’m a little worried about how [...]
This morning started out great. I went to a yoga class with a new instructor. I like that boundless yoga really focuses on making sure that you are doing the poses correctly.
I hopped back on my bike and headed to work. I was riding in the right side of the middle lane because a [...]
I got great oatmeal suggestions on my post yesterday. Thank to everyone who commented. I can’t wait to try a bunch of different combos this summer. Today I made a much more delicious and (hopefully) filling bowl. Sorry for the camera-phone picture:
Last night I put 1/3 cup oats + 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla [...]
The doctor’s appointment went exactly as I had expected. Although the fracture doesn’t hurt when I walk on it anymore, it does when pressure is applied directly on the spot. But overall, he was pleased with my progress and encouraged me to continue being active.
I’m getting another bone scan June 16th and will [...]
