Today the temperature in DC was crazy warm for November – I think the high reached almost 70*.
This meant two walks with Leela in Rock Creek Park in shorts & a tank top. Probably the last time I’ll be able to wear that in 2011.
Even though it doesn’t feel like fall [...]
Friday we had temperatures in the 70s. On Saturday, I woke up to temperatures in the 50s and cold rain. Talk about a quick transition to Fall weather! I had 8 miles on my training plan. Tapering + bad weather = no motivation to run. At all.
I decided to take Leela for the [...]
The weekend in NY was great, with the exception of driving back last night after the wedding and not getting home until 2:30 am this morning.
I worked from home today, which worked out perfectly because I had a ton of work to do but didn’t want to leave my bed to do it. [...]
Apparently today is the official start of summer. DC misses that memo every year and starts a bit early, but I’ll take that over a long winter any day. Summer means flip flops every day, outdoor eating and sunshine after work.
Summer also means delicious produce: beets, zucchini, tomatoes, and asparagus to name a few. [...]
I’ve been trying to make the transition back into real life as painless as possible. A few key strategies:
Monday morning instead of working out, I took the dogs through a walk in Rock Creek Park. This meant I got to sleep in later and pretend I was still in the middle of nowhere. I [...]
This Friday is off to a good start – 1 mile swim with Nyema complete! Then I’m off to my first major (in-person) client presentation, so wish me luck.
Since I’ve been trying to up my protein, I decided to experiment in the kitchen and baked these delicious protein muffins. *Note: these are not sweet [...]
Sorry for the lack of posting this week (which will probably continue into next week). I’m getting ready to hit the road tonight – Neil and I are driving to Buffalo for my future sister-in-law’s bridal shower. Both Neil’s brother and my brother are getting married this fall, within 2 weeks of each other, and [...]
Is anyone else out there a fan of Amy’s products? I have a special place in my heart for their Mexican Tamale Pie and their Shepherd’s Pie.
They are both delicious, not too high in calories, and have an amazing ingredient list. I love to have them with a salad for lunch. However, [...]
Cooking for two people with different tastes can be a challenge. Whether you live with your family, a roommate or a significant other, there is a good chance people do not eat the same way as you do.
While I am mostly vegetarian, Neil is not. He is definitely open to eating less meat since [...]
Friday to Saturday have been full of my typical long run rituals. Friday night, eat pizza and go to bed early. Saturday morning, wake up and eat almond butter + chia seeds on toast and coffee. When I went to pack my usual during-run-fuel I realized 1 – Gu and Sports Jelly Beans are probably [...]
