Even though I “officially” started marathon training over 2 months ago, it hasn’t felt like I’ve been training that long. I have been so focused on triathlon training and cycling that running has seemed almost secondary. It feels weird to say considering I’ve already gotten up to 18 miles for my long run.
Like I said yesterday, I prefer to do my workouts outside. Whether it be a run, boot camp or a bike ride, I avoid the gym if I can. But I have a groupon for a bunch of workout classes at various gyms in the area + 3 personal trainer appointments, so I’m stepping outside [...]
I’ve been having some trouble sleeping lately because of work-related anxiety on the mind, so hopefully today’s combination of activities will kill that stress.
This morning I went to my second Stroga class – this time it was Power Yoga. I liked that it was fast-paced, worked my muscles and only 50 minutes long. Sometimes [...]
After being away the last two weekends, I was so happy to have no major plans this weekend. We hosted a big family celebration for Neil’s birthday Saturday night (I made 2 kinds of chili to serve 12 people), but other than that it was wide open.
Also, since we had gotten the house cleaned [...]
My friend Nyema has become a total yogi the past few months. She has been practicing around 4 times a week, and has inspired me. We have been trying to get to a yoga class together for months now, but the world had worst against us. Traffic jams, getting sick, etc. Tonight the stars finally [...]
I’ve had sore hamstrings all day from yesterday’s boot camp, so I’ve taken it easy on the exercise front: a walk/hike in Rock Creek Park this morning and 20 minutes on the stationary bike. I also spent some time rolling my hamstrings out on the foam roller – it hurt so good.
Neil had basketball [...]
Today and has been a very long and full day. It started not-so-bright and early at my second boot camp class. The temps were below freezing when I left, so I drove to the class instead of biking. I kept trying to remind myself that 30-something degree weather isn’t so bad, considering I spent last [...]
I’m so sad the weekend is over because it was such a good one. Highlights included:
My first time doing yoga on a blacktop. This reminded me of Ashley’s all over yoga movement. It was free class part of Columbia Heights Day (a festival in my neighborhood). It was a relatively easy class, but since [...]
The format of this post is inspired by Katie and her three things Thursday posts.
Yesterday I went to the farmer’s market near the White House. I got the following for $20: 1 lb ground beef, 2 red peppers, 3 peaches, 3 nectarines, 2 ears of corn, and a fresh loaf of bread. I [...]
This morning started out great. I went to a yoga class with a new instructor. I like that boundless yoga really focuses on making sure that you are doing the poses correctly.
I hopped back on my bike and headed to work. I was riding in the right side of the middle lane because a [...]
